Chord Rangers
The Austin Chord Rangers, the Austin chapter of the 30,000-man Barbershop Harmony Society, are a group of men of all ages who enjoy singing together in a cappella four-part harmony, both as a chorus and in organized quartets. The Chord Rangers are a non-profit group dedicated to music education for America's youth.
Austin Poetry Slam/Neo Soul
The Austin Poetry Slam has been in operation since 1994 when it was run through the Electric Lounge. The first Austin Slam Council was elected in October 1999 as an organic, democratic body of equal voices and is in charge of the Austin Slam’s mission, vision and overseeing its operation. The Austin Poetry Slam is dedicated to honoring the Austin community by providing and promoting poetry and its performance in a manner that engages, challenges, celebrates, and supports both artist and audience. Raising Our Voices is a branch of the Austin Poetry Slam’s programming dedicated to increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in the Austin literary community.
The Tammi Wolfe Duo
Classically trained, Tammi has performed internationally in various musicals. Having recorded with many upcoming artists, she has also sung with greats including Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Ben Vereen. Currently residing in New York, Tammi continues to sing at various events with her bands “Grovescape” and “Uptown.”
Will Taylor and Strings Attached
Beginning in 1999, Will Taylor implemented a new idea after brainstorming with other local Austin musicians. Taylor began collaborating with both local and nationally renowned artists, rearranging their known material, brought in his own crew of seasoned jazz and contemporary roots musicians to play, and moved the performance venue from the traditional smokey club scene to the beautiful interior and excellent acoustics of a church sanctuary. Since then Will Taylor and Strings Attached have presented more than 50 concert collaborations to more than 12,000 audience members, countless more through four KGSR Live Radio broadcasts, and many appearances on KUT, KLBJ, KMFA and KOOP Radio.
Mice and Rifles
Formed in 2006, Mice and Rifles quickly established themselves as one of Austin's brightest acts. The Austin Chronicles named them a 2007 "Top 10 to Watch" and earned themselves an invitation to C3's Big State Festival with the likes of Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and the Flatlanders. 2008 looks just as promising. This is Mice and Rifles.
Mundi
Mundi is an instrumental quintet that offers listeners an innovative and eclectic experience of folk and medieval music, and original compositions. With Austin Symphony string players Carolyn Hagler and Bruce Colson at the helm, the group has toured Spain and released two cds: Apple Howling (2004) and The Book & the Flower (2006). Both recordings have been featured on the nationally syndicated radio show Echoes and the second album was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered. In addition the group has collaborated in concerts with poets Robert Bly and Coleman Barks, and with Craig Hella Johnson, the artistic director of Conspirare.
Parking will be available for free in the Palmer Events Center Garage, located directly East of the Long Center. Additional free parking for the weekend is located in the parking garage of One Texas Center at Barton Springs and South First Street.
